El 15 de gener de 1977, es va organitzar un míting al Palau d'esports Josep Mora per part de CCOO de Mataró i el Maresme. En aquest míting participava el líder històric de CCOO, Marcelino Camacho. Per portar-se a terme el míting calia rebre el permís del Govern Civil, encara de la resposta negativa per part de l'alcalde, es va produir aquesta al llarg de la façana del Palau d'Esports. La manifestació va arribar a l'ajuntament i es va dissoldre pacíficament.
