La Devesa de Girona és el parc urbà més gran del Principat, que compta amb més de 2500 arbres centenaris. L'any 1976, va sortir un estudi de Narcis Motge i Sebastià Clos i patrocinat per l'Assemblea de Democràtica d'Artistes de Girona en l'exposició Salvem la Devesa. A l'estudi es mostrava que al voltant de 1200 plataners van emmalaltir per malalties pròpies de l'arbre. Es criticava als ajuntaments per l'ús realitzat dels ajuntaments del passeig.
